East Meets West Food Tour

19 Aug 2016

Have you ever wanted to incorporate unusual Asian ingredients into your cooking but have been unsure how? Or what the ingredients taste like? Come along and explore the Box Hill Fresh Food Markets with our East Meets West Food Tours.

On Saturday 17th September our tour guide Domenic will show you through the extensive market place, stopping in at different stalls to meet the owners who will explain the history of many of the ingredients that are found throughout different regions of Asia, as well as handy tips and tricks to utilise the ingredients in your own cooking.

After being taken on a journey visiting our fresh meats, seafood and poultry sections, as well as the spices, fruits and vegetables available at the market, you will be invited to dine and enjoy some traditional Asian cuisine.

You will also be given the opportunity to walk through our extensive restaurant and food precinct, exploring spice shops and be invited to dine at Kitchen Republik who’s delicious Taiwanese fare will fill you while Domenic explains how you can recreate the dishes available on the menu at home using the ingredients you have just learnt about. Whether it be the juicy dumplings, wok tossed black pepper steak served with onions and seasonal vegetables, or the Taiwanese chicken drumsticks that were just voted one of the ‘best meals in Melbourne under $10’ by the Herald Sun’s food editor Dan Stock, you will sure to leave the tour feeling fulfilled and inspired.

Our East Meets West Food Tours run in conjunction with Box Hill’s Centre For Adult Education and can be booked privately for small groups of up to 13.
