Weekend Feast: Black Chicken Soup

Here is a step by step guide to making this authentic Chinese recipe at home using ingredients found at Box Hill Central’s market place located in the South shopping precinct. 
Shopping List: 
1 black chicken skinned, removed head and feet (you can ask your local poultry shop to do this for you)
1/2 tablespoon of Hsao Hsing 
Salt and ground white pepper
6 cups of water, half filled in a large pot
20 grams of Ginseng
1 tablespoon of Wolfberries
10 grams of Chinese Angelicae Root 
5 grams of Rhizoma 
6 grams of Liquorice Root
10 gram of Dried Longan 
1. Boil a pot of water over medium – high heat.
2. When boiled, place chicken and Chinese herbs. Bring to boil again, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-1.5 hours.
3. Add rice wine before turning heat off. Stir briefly to combine ingredients and serve hot.
