Lunar Year Celebrations Continue at Box Hill Central

08 Feb 2017

It was the second weekend full of Lunar New Year celebrations at Box Hill Central. On Saturday the 4th of February, shoppers were delighted with traditional Lion Dancers whom made their way throughout the centre. This time around they were joined by the “cubs” otherwise known as the baby lion dancers, who brought the house down. If you didn’t catch them, you could definitely hear them.

It was light, camera, action! As an audience watched the heat rise in the kitchen as the Ding Shi Live Cooking Competition returned to Box Hill Central for its third annual grand finale.

Chef John managed to take out the title, with his rendition of Chinese chicken meatballs. Yum!

However never fear, the festivities will continue this Saturday and as the saying goes… We’ve saved the best until last.

Come Saturday the 11th of February 2017, wonder is in the air at Box Hill Central and would like to invite you to celebrate the first full moon for the Lunar Year with an amazing Chinese Lantern Festival.

Featuring over 100 Asian inspired market stalls with Chinese New Year souvenirs, unique & authentic Asian cuisines to tantalise your taste buds.

Running from 10am until midnight there will be a trove of cultural activities and performances at the Main stage to enjoy.

The little ones will be delighted with the Lantern & Junior Lion Dancing workshops and Chinese Mask painting.

The Chinese Lion Dancing and the God of Fortune Parade will be taking place in the late afternoon and attendees should definitely stay around for dinner because the festival is finishing with a bang with another Chinese Dragon Dance and Fire Cracker Show at 10pm.

See you there!
