Box Hill Central Community Connector
Box Hill Central Management in partnership with the ROC Whitehorse Community Action Group is providing a Community Connector Service to support the wellbeing of people within the shopping centre. Meet Ian Bunston our Community Connector. Ian is a former assistant school principal, avid traveller, husband and father. Alongside his role as the Box Hill Central Community Connector, Ian works with local sporting clubs to understand and address mental health challenges and supports teachers in pre-service training. Ian’s role will endeavour to build a strong (and healthy) community by:
Connecting people and building long-term relationships within the community.
- Offering a patient ear to confidentially discuss challenging issues and provide pastoral care to the Box Hill Central community.
- Walking alongside members of the community – offering company for the lonely, comfort for the weary, and hope for those who need some.
- Working collaboratively with Box Hill Central personnel and local community stakeholders in order to serve the community and address community needs.
As local governments and other agencies care for their communities, they are faced with a mixture of issues such as family breakdown, mental illness, unemployment, substance abuse and loneliness. By working closely with community organisations for support and referral, we can help tackle these issues and work together for the common good and wellbeing of our communities.
Ian will be in the centre on Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week or feel free to contact him.
